Dry skin care problem that can commonly occur to your skin

Dry skin care is something that is a common in people that are exposed to dry cold common during the autumn and winter seasons and the elderly. This happens more often in the winter when cold air outside and heated air inside which can cause low humidity.

The symptoms that are often associated with dry skin include itchy, scaly and cracks in the skin. Most often dry skin most often affects the lower legs, upper arms, hands, and thighs. So what can you do to avoid or treat this condition? The best treatment is to start out by changing some basic thing in your life that are simple but can be affecting when it comes to dry skin care. When treating dry skin, it's important to moisturize the skin and protect it from losing moisture. Take short baths or showers using lukewarm water with mild soap, and gently pat your skin dry. Apply a moisturizer while the skin is damp to trap moisture. Use an air humidifier at home or work to help moisturize the skin. Avoid exposure to irritating chemicals such as detergents and perfumes. Wear cotton clothing free from the chemicals found in synthetic fabrics and less irritating than wool. Rinse clothes well after washing to remove irritating detergents.

Other ways to treatment increase skin and body moisture try using bath oils and moisturizers at least a couple of times daily. Thick, greasy moisturizers work best. Try to avoid products with alcohol. Apply moisturizers just after a bath or shower, when your skin is still damp. Also try drinking plenty of water throughout the day. Last buy not least try using a humidifier if the air is dry in your home.
